I like to compost (well aged of course) the roses as they break out
of dormancy (Feb. here). Then start the bi-weekly to monthly
feedings (I love fish emulsion, works wonderfully and it's organic)
when it warms up good or after your last frost (about mid-April
here). Another idea is to add 1/4-1 cup of Epsom salts with their
first liquid feeding (differing opinions on how much, and I've not
done this yet, but will). Fish emulsion is recommended every 3
weeks, I usually go once a month... be sure to stop fertilizing
before your fall frost (here about Sept.). I also add garden mulch
(3 inches) about now as I weed.
Congratulations on your ''collection'', isn't it fun.
Sincerely,
~Carleen~
