newbie

Greetings from Iowa:

I've just joined this list and am looking forward to gaining new "net"
friends as well as advice.

I have several perennial borders, most containing roses here and there.
I grow mainly floribundas and old shrub roses that bloom repeatedly
throughout the season.

I have tried and tried to coexist with hybrid t's but they don't survive
for me -- too much disease; insect pests seem to prefer them over the
other roses. I have one T remaining; lost 2 overwinter; a third one
sprouted but died in mid-May. As soon as the last T goes (it doesn't
look happy right now), I'll be T-less.

I'd rather have a bountiful harvest of floribunda and old-shrub rose
blooms than scantily-clad T's with few blooms and leaves. I no longer
have the energy (am now partially disabled) to devote to T's; even when
I did they didn't do as well as they should have. (And yet friends with
the same growing conditions do fine!)

At any rate, I'm happy to be part of the list. Drop in for a chat.
