I planted 'Graham Thomas' in it's place, as I
decided that I
really didn't need a lot of height, but needed
the color more. What's the
scoop on 'Graham Thomas'? No black spot yet
and I am getting sporatic
blooms. I love the color! This is it's first year.
Does get pretty tall, I have to stake mine. In
6a/7b I'm never without a few flowers during
the season, almost no disease for me.
Any other yellow roses someone could
recommend?
I absolutely love David Austin's Golden
Celebration, a more golden yellow, has been
totally healthy for me, great repeat. Same goes
for DA's 'Pilgrim,' light yellow outer petals
moving to deeper yellow in the center. Mine
gets crowded by echinops, salvia and Autumn
Joy sedum, and still blooms repeatedly.
Buff Beauty is on the yellow/goldenish side, a
hybrid musk, mine grows and blooms well in
part shade, competing with tree roots. No
disease. Great fragrance.
Climber Celine Forrestier is a charming 2-3" full
old rose, nice fragrance. Slightly tender, I
recall? This year did get some powdery mildew
but never has the last two years (we had a very
wet spring - wettest on record), but nothing
debilitating.
