Japanese Beetles/Amonia solution

I'm overrun with these devils - 4 and 5 piggy back on a single bloom. Has
anyone 
heard of water, dish liquid and amonia as a deterent? Does anyone have the 
proportions?  Would vinegar work as well? What has everyone tried with or
without success?
