RE: fertilizing?

You'll probably get as many answers as people who respond ;-)

I am also a zone 7 outside of Portland, Oregon.  I really don't know much
about the south and I'm sure it's quite different.  I don't start
fertilizing my roses until mid-April in most years.  I suspect you have a
much earlier season (peak roses here is typically late May to early June) so
you may want to check with someone more local.
