Hello Rosarians,
Here are my questions regarding Growing certain roses in Houston.
1. I am interested in mini's and one in particular is called Jeanne LaJoie
which is a climbing mini. I am interested in whether these can be planted in
a large pot which is set against a fence where it can be trained to grow out
on the fence. How much room in the pot is needed to support a miniature
climber? I am also considering some of the larger climbing antique roses and
wondered which would be best in Houston.
2. Does anyone have specific experience with growing antique gallica roses in
Houston (zone 9a Upper Texas Gulf Coast) specifically the two ancient roses,
Rosa gallica officionalis and Rosa gallica versicolor. Are these going to be
"heat & humidity" hardy enough to make it through the Houston summers?
3. If I wish to use some of my roses for culinary pursuits, what organic
fungicides/pesticides are considered as approved for FOOD CROPS which are
effective on Roses.
