Most gallicas seem to run about 3' - 3 1/2' up here in the frozen north if
left to their own devices. They do make nice bushy shrubs, as opposed to
the sparse growth you generally get on hybrid teas. I fertilize very
lightly though, and do not have enough water to be able to do more than run
a soaker hose every few days in drought conditions. They might well do a
bit more in warmer climates with regular waterings and fertilizing but I
don't think they will make 5 feet unless you put them on the rack and
stretch them.
