Carleen,
I can get both at a good local nursery. Any of the mail order organic
garden supply companies will have both as well. The kelp meal has
directions for rich, average and poor soils. Sul-Po-Mag is a source of
potash and magnesium. Rodale's All-New Encyclopedia of Organic
gardening suggests 5-10 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. Trying to break this
down per rose gave me a headache so I just used 2 tablespoons per rose.
Using too much of either of these products will cause problems so it's
best to error on the side of using too little. Excess mangesium will
interfere in the uptake of other nutrients. Kelp contains a lot of
micronutrients and excessive amounts can kill plants. Rodale's also
cautions that one should not use Sul-Po-Mag in connection with
dolomitic lime.
I've ordered from BioControl and have seen numerous posts that highly
recommend Peaceful Valley.
