A couple winter thoughts

Hi there rose fans...I've spent this sunny cold Oregon day cleaning 
garden beds and digging in the mud.  I am so tempted to cut back my roses 
 as they took a real beating last weekend with the high winds we 
experienced..usually I do it over Presidents Birthday so I would be a 
month early.
But!!!The roses still think its fall and I have buds (frozen now but 
there) on some.
Ideas??
Another thing related to roses.  I bought several in small pots at 
Heritage Garden last summer and they are in a sheltered area on my porch. 
 Would it be ok to put them out this soon?

I am seriously thinking of going to Seattle for the weekend for the 
famous Seattle Garden Garden show . Is anyone else in the great northwest 
planning on making the trip?
