I need help, folks!
Last spring I had a rugosa that put up a lot of suckers. My sister wanted
one, so I took a spade and "chopped" through the root to the mother plant
and left the sucker in the ground where it stood. I watered it well and
told her she could come back the next weekend and move it to her home.
Well, overnight the thing wilted and subsequently died a couple of days
later.
What did I do wrong? What is the best way to get one of the suckers to
"take"? We want to try this again in the spring.
