Hi Patricia,

Elizabet Abler in her book, Secrets of the Miniature Rose, says the following:
The ideal time for rooting is the afternoon of a dull drizzly day toward the
end of the first bloom period. Know where you are going to put your new bush
and have ready some rooting powder, peat moss, a small glass jar, a weeder or
sturdy stick. Select a full blown rose specimen on a strong healthy bush.
Cut a long stem with several five-leaflet leaves. Rip off the lower two or
three leaves. The reason for ripping and not cutting is to leave a rupture of
the skin on the cane wheere, it is hoped, roots will develop. At least two
five-leaflet leaves should remain. Dip bas of cut cane in rooting powder,
shake off excess. Form a slanting hole where you are to plant the cane, using
a weeder, stick or your finger. Sprinkle a pinch of rooting powder into the
hole and slant in cane up to remaining leaves. Fill the hole with soil & some
peat moss and press with palms and fingers. Mulch with a bit of peat and water
well. Cut the bloom from the top of the cane and place a name stake. Screw
in a clear jar over the above ground leaves and wait a few weeks. If you are
successful you have rooted a new plant. To test, pull gently on the cane.

I will try to send the info on indoor witnter bloom later. Good luck!
