I have dealt with both Heirloom and Vintage over the years. I prefer to buy
from Vintage, but have a limited availability list, so I occasionally but
from Heirloom. I heartily recommend Vintage.

I notice a lot of enthusiasm for Heirloom Roses as a source for old
roses and own root roses. I have used them for several years with some
spectacular successs and some poor results. I have received roses that
were not true to the variety and some that didn't survive the season.
But I have had some that were magnificent in a year or two. This year I
tried Vintage Gardens which I found on the Internet and the stock
arrived yesterday. It was two to three times larger and looks good. I
also tried Hardy Roses for the North which has own root roses. They
were so so. There's a site that lists mail order catalogues and
comments from users are posted. Heirloom is on that, too.
