[Rose-list] RE: New product too good to be true!??? -- check it out

Well, there's some sorta good news and some bad news .. and some worse
news...

I stopped last night at my local primo nursery. They are very large and
have knowledgeable staff at an information booth where people have a virtual
library behind them and help you get answers to your gardening questions. I
just love this place!

Anyway, happy day, I got one of the more knowledgeable people there and
asked him about the Maine Fermented Salmon product. Good news is, they
carry it and it's fairly reasonably priced. About a quart sized bottle of
pre-mixed stuff was $12.

The bad news is, he said it's a fairly new product, so he really couldn't
comment, but he hasn't seen any repeat buyers yet, either.

The worse news is, I was mentioning the baking soda/oil/water solution and
he said the state university here ran "scientific" tests and found that it
does absolutely nothing. No discernable difference from use or no use.

Now some of you may disagree with this from personal use, I never get around
to trying it, myself, but I say if you feel it's helped, keep going with it.

I had a thought this morning. Could it be that IF this fish product has no
real "curative" powers, perhaps it's just such a good fertilizer and the
plants are so healthy they just stave off the diseases? All pests and
diseases are attracted to the weaker plants, not the healthy ones.

So I bought the $12 bottle to give it a try. I figured at the least I'd
fertilize with it and $12 was not that big of a risk. We have had an
exceptionally wet spring here and I have roses with rust and powdery mildew
that have not had it before. And I have a few that are notorious for black
spot. Good time to try it. I'll keep you all posted.

together to praise the Lord and teach all who look upon them to do
likewise.
