Hi, all!

I'm feeling a bit wistful when I read the posts. My main flush of bloom is
long past, the results of a strange spring after a very mild winter. I
have late summer things blooming now and I wonder what will be left when
fall actually arrives.

My favorite combinations this year are definitely the dark red climber 'Don
Juan' which is growing amongst the dark blue of larkspur and golden
daylilly 'Stella d'Oro'. It's eye-popping! Another paler combo is the
salmon climber 'America' with lavender Russian sage and a creamy white
yarrow. I've planted lilies in abundance this past fall to intermingle
with the roses. A move I heartily suggest to everyone as the scent of
these trumpet lilies blooming now are out of this world. Oriental lilies
are to come later.

I have a host of other roses blooming, but these are mostly shrubs and
climbers. My rugosas are gone and the main flush of my English roses have
past.

I'm pouting.
