I'd guess this depends on the variety and whether or not it reblooms.
We put 1/2 cup of 12-14 month Sierra brand Ozmocote (slow release with
minors) on each of the 4,000+ plants in the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden
regardless of class. This also takes care of what epson salt is used
for. It works just fine and makes fertilizing a couple of day task for
volunteers.
