Can you be persuaded into revealing the company that sold you these roses?
I'd like to avoid such companies if possible. Black canes are a sign of
dead tissue, I believe. Even though they replaced these roses, it isn't a
good sign that they sent out more dead roses.
Your pruning techniques were correct; I've often pruned the same way. But
you can't help what they sent to you.
