Don Juan -Reply

I grew Don Juan for about 6 years on grafted
stock. It is a very beautiful rose, but here in the
PNW, every year it had an EXTREME case of
rust, literally had to defoliate it and start over
after first flush. HOGR grows it now, not only
own root, but purported to be "virus free."
Apparently it is notorious for the virus. I
finally replaced it, but moved it to another
location "to wait and see." BTW there was not
much fragrance. But the color was indeed a
deep, black red, and did not turn that magenta
color so many do as they fade.

My sister loves red blaze and it appears
to be hardy. I beleive Don Juan is older,
and the color sounds darker, which sounds
nicer to me.

What else do you have ?
