I had to look up heuchera...(neat site at http://www.vg.com/ with
a Time Life Plant Encyclopedia) ahh... Coral Bells. What color are
the campanula's, Valerie? Blue? Wow, red 'Don Jaun', purple
larkspur and yellow mums sound wonderful.
****************************
The campanulas are a milky blue. It was a new variety that I've lost
the tag on. But it is not a dark blue -- more like a baby blue.

I love the texture of iris greens with roses. I also love lilies and
delphiniums intermingling with the roses. Purple Monkshood with dark
fuchsia roses are fun. Then I like my ground covers to be thick,
short and clumps, my favorite it Sweet Woodruff. I also like lots of
early spring crocus's in mixed colors below the roses.
*****************************
Watch putting iris near your roses. My iris multiplies like crazy (a
no-name blackish-purple I got from a co-worker) and I'm constantly dividing
it every year to keep it blooming. If you plant it near your roses, you
could end up disturbing its roots while you dig up the iris. I always
wished I could grow delphs, but they end up succumbing to our ruthless
summers. Larkspur is a little hardier!

I just bought some Dianthus Deltoides (or Maiden Pinks) that are
called Brilliant... does anyone know what color they are? The label
doesn't say. Are they always pink?
******************************
They don't call it 'Brilliant' for nothing! It is the most wonderful
neon pink that you can see from quite a distance. Try a blazing fushia or
magenta thought to get the right feel for it. I'd also say that it would
be like the rugosa 'Hansa', but brighter. I like that color with dark
blues. I wonder if it would bloom with the geranium 'Johnson's Blue'? I
have erigeron 'Azure Blue' (fleabane) near my 'Hansa' and it's too pale to
compete. I have some salva 'East Friesland' blooming in another part of my
yard that I think would be smashing with it.
