if you're interested in putting your roses into a mixed border, you can get
the best ideas from a book by Tony Lord (English gardener) called "Best
Borders".  It has fantastic photos from gardens that incorporate old roses
into lush borders.  He identifies each plant in the photos (a definite
plus) and gives inside details on how the gardeners keep everything looking
so perfect, down to what they incorporate into the soil.  He even shows
borders that peak in the fall to show you how much of an impact rose hips
would have on seasonal color.

Very interesting book and on sale at Amazon.com when I last checked.  This
book is always at my finger tips.
