RE: [Rose-list] RE:roses and clematis

Hello all,

There was a "plan" to them all, but some risk involved as most of the
clematis I'd only seen in books and believe me, blue is the WORST color for
photography, as is "red." So I place them by size, whether I want them to
coincide for bloom or bloom separately, etc. Now I wait.

Sometimes I pick a flower and wander around the yard to find something that
really "works" together, and then I'll move the clematis or the rose.

It's all still a learning process at this point.

Do you look for the rose or the climatis

Usually the rose, since they are my first love.

Or can you just grab whatever catches your eye and lump them

Ahhh, yup, I do that too. My theory is, if you love something instantly,
you'll find room for it, and better yet, a person is usually consistent with
their "love at first sight" and it usually works in the existing garden
somewhere.

How do they work with the

I really love clematis for softening things. You may grow a host plant and
clematis together for special affect, but often a stray vine or two will
travel another direction, if you let it. Often that is a happy surprise as
well, or just a charming combination that I never planned....

For mine is a little old fashioned garden where the flowers come
together to praise the Lord and teach all who look upon them to do
likewise.
