RE: [Rose-list] Re: Rose Books

Hello all,

My favorite rose books are probably the two by David Austin, oh darn sorry,
at work, can't remember exact names but of course they are about old roses,
climbers, etc. They are often sold together.

He is really honest even about his own breeds, about their shortcomings,
etc. And when you read the end of this book, and discover the heart of this
man for roses, you will know you've found a kindred spirit (he talks about
preserving the old roses and the best parts of them with breeding, etc.).
Too bad he lives a continent away and is already long married ;-) (sorry
Mrs. Austin. Maybe she wouldn't mind if we just "cloned" him...)

Anyway, I love Graham Thomas' book about roses as well, but don't own it.
Usually check it out from the library before I make final choices of old
roses.

Another little unassuming book is by Patrick Taylor. It is small,
paperback, and only about $15, but has wonderful pictures and information on
old and climbing roses. Very helpful.

For mine is a little old fashioned garden where the flowers come
together to praise the Lord and teach all who look upon them to do
likewise.

I AM in shape. ROUND is a shape!
