Sorry, Philip, I ran on too quickly...my idea is to use the fresh cedar chips
now on
shrubs/trees, and add grass clippings to that mulch over the summer. To the
rose
beds, add the aged manure (which you have already done and I would have known
if I had read further - 'scusa) which will not rob the soil of nitrogen. You
could always
add grass clippings to the rose manure mulch too, but soil testing would be
in order
first. There is supposed to be a very accurate and affordable soil tester now
on the market now - can't remember if it only test for ph or more. Will have
to check my files..will report back if anyone's interested.
