Carleen:
I've always loved delphiniums with roses, but they are mostly perennials
here. And
campanula is a favorite but my experience is that they like some shade (I've
moved all of mine to reflect this and they're doing super now). Salvia
sounds perfect though.
And is valerian centranthus? If so, it did well here but flopped from the
center outwards and burned out in the middle. The trick is to find some
plants that stay neat and tidy to the ground to cover some of the roses that
should wear pantaloons
to cover their bare calves.
Has anyone tried hypericum 'Hidcote'? Does it do well in the heat and
humidity and
look nicely all season? The yellow blooms would be attractive with the salvia
under
the roses.
Thanks, Joanie Z.5a
