John,
likewise, my rugosas are the first out of the gates this year:
Therese Bugnet is looking nice in its second year.
Sir Thomas Lipton is a low mound of green and white - only its
second year as well.
Hansa has had only one bloom so far and my 5 year old
son got my pruners out and cut it and brought it in for mom to
put in a vase. One bloom was enough to perfume the whole
table at dinner.
I got two free Sarah Van Fleet roses late last summer.
I was happy they survived the winter - no blooms yet.
Should roses have their blooms pinched the first year
or part of the first year to help them get established?
or does it matter all that much?
Phillip - whose Rambling Rector is going to be stunning when he
decides to finally open his blooms.
