Re: [Rose-list] Heirloom Old Rose Garden/Eugene Furst/Lady Hillingdon

I have both forms of Lady Hillingdon in my garden in New Zealand. When I
first planted the bush one I was told by Lloyd Chapman of Trinity Farm He
write the articles on Old fashioned roses on my website) that Lady H needed
a lot of care but if looked after she would reward me! Now 3 years old she
has only grown a little - the flowers are beautiful and very fragrant. I
think she actually deserves replanting in a sunnier and drier position.

The Climbing version is only one year old and is in a better position. It is
definitely more vigorous although not compared to some other climbers I
have - notably Westerland. I live in an area of high rainfall in the
Waitakere Ranges above Auckland in the North island of NZ and I am
surrounded by native bush. It is not the most ideal
conditions for growing healthy roses although we persist!
