I'm new to the rose-list and I think it's
great. I live on the Southern Oregon coast in zone 9. I grow mainly
old roses but I have some modern ones too. The only thing really blooming
now is The Fairy and I just discovered the perfect companion for it--Nepeta
"Six Hills Giant." The lavender blue of the catmint sets off the
warm vivid pink of The Fairy to a tee. Although the Fairy doesn't have
scent, that is usually a major criteria for me in choosing a rose. My most
highly scented ones are Rose de Resht, Stanwell Perpetual, Gertrude Jekyll, St.
Ceceilia, Jaune de Prez, New Zealand, Mme. Alfred Carriere, Parade, and Mme.
Issac Perreire. What are yours? Well, I've got to go batten down the
hatches--we're expecting a big windstorm here soon.
Cheers---Gloria
