Re: transplanting

> Hey! Rose growers,

How about joining Carleen and I in writing about roses again?

I dug most of my hybrid tea roses and have them in big tubs, just waiting
for the weekend so I can plant them at the new location. I put a great
deal of soil in the tubs and watered the roses and they seem to be
unaware that they were moved.

My plans are to have roses closest to the house, peonies in front, iris
in front of that. I will have some iris scattered about among the roses
as well so there is some color there in early spring. I will be able to
see iris from inside the house. The slope is not gradual so the roses
would hide the iris from inside the house.

Drainage should be great with the gravel under the compost and the slope
as well. My husband loves to water so I am sure there will be no problem
with things drying out.

Carleen, thank you for the addresses for the miniature roses. I plan to
do more with them next year. They are so generous with their dainty
blooms.

Does anyone have any suggestions for hybrid tea roses that are light
colored but edged in a very deep shade of the same color? I love them
and think I will order a few of them next year.

Standard time has me feeling like a chicken who must head for a roost in
the dusk. With dusk coming so early I feel it is way past my bed time
already. I hate to think what I will do when I retire the end of next
month.
