We're here, just not quite as active as at other times.  We have had
frost here so it is cleanup time in the garden.  Roses have hung in
there though and the colors are wonderful.  

I quit feeding my roses in late August and tried to keep the spent
blooms picked off.  My cousin is drying rose petals so I have all the
good petals strewn about on paper towels to dry for her.  I discovered
one interesting thing, a few roses that have no scent when they are in
bloom produce scent when they are dried!

I hope to make rose petal jelly, rose petal ice cream and also to add
some rose  petals to some light cooking oil to see if I can produce a
flavorful oil for cooking.  Has anyone tried that?  

Have you started thinking about what you will buy next year?  I have a
few roses that are back ordered till next year.  I think I will try to
order more orange, peach and yellow roses.  Of course any striped roses
will get put on the list.  I love them.  My favorite of these is
Scentsational which did not perform too well for me at my previous home
but is blooming it's heart out here and has the most wonderful scent
too.
