Re: rose/crab apple rust and Japanese Beetles

I'm resending this as I keep forgetting to change the subject and more
members might have their interest piqued if we get some topics going:

Hi, Mary...

So far, the Jap. beetles don't seemed to undermine the health of my roses but
I suppose it's possible that they could carry some pathogen that could do so
and perhaps that also might affect other plants/trees, etc. I haven't heard
that crab tree rust affects roses but you may want to check our archives as I
do recall that being discussed. I'd give you that address but I can't put my
hands on the info...go to mallorn.com and you should find it there under the
rose-list.

Some crabs are prone to rust and it always aggravates me to see nurseries
still merrily selling those varieties. I don't have that particular problem
but I do have a terrible suckering problem, which may be a graft scion
problem and not a specific species. Since we're off topic here, I'd best put
a lid on this discussion. ;-P

Wish someone else would jump in...I asked a couple of weeks ago if anyone had
had particularly good luck or bad luck with particular roses or kinds of
roses, but no one answered. We may have this list all to ourselves, Mary.
Hmmm. Wonder how we can smoke some members out? :->

Joanie
