Hi Piet,
thanks for your comments.
Expanding on S.t. 'Forescate': This plant It was reportedly found by
Morgenstern (the one with the book, remember?) in a nursery in the town of
Voorschoten. It is in the greenhouses of the University of Leiden.
Forscate is the Latin name for Voorschoten. For those interested how this
comes about, note that in Dutch "V" at the beginning of a word is
pronounced almost like "f" and Dutch (unlike German) pronounces "sch"
separately as two sounds "s" and "ch". The latter is pronounced like the
Scottish "ch" in Loch ( equal to "j" in Spain Spanish and all the Middle
Eastern languages). since the latter sound does not exist in Latin, it is
rendered as a "c" or "k", thus giving us Fores-cate.
Piet correct me if I said something wrong.
Best regards,
Juan
