Dave died some years ago after suffering from Alzheimer's for i think,.
longer than anyone suspected. he was a marvellous grower and had a great
eye for beauty, not just plants but art, literature, the whole works. His
nursery in i think Vista. CA, is still here for us. He was thoroughly
addicted to Sansevierias, back when truly nobody else was. He and Manny
Singer, who also joined his ancestors some time ago, introduced many species.
In those days when one could get plants in from South Africa and environs,
you had to beg your source to collect Sansevierias for you, because they
were considered weeds by collectors! if you can imagine anything so silly.
Dave used to rub his hands together gleefully over his special pets, the
ones which would not readilly propagate but which sat there, looking calm
and ancient in the propagating beds. I do not mean to omit others who also
brought in plants...a flood of names just came to me.....
