Hey all:
After discussing with people plant labels and how a plastic label can
last about two years and after that the name fades into anonymity, I
decided to attempt a more permanent solution. After checking sources of
metal tags in the plant realm I came to the conclusion that they cost
more than they're worth. I then went to the trapping realm and found
300 copper tags for about $25.00 from Chagnons on the net. This was at
about 30% the cost of in the plant realm and seemed to be pretty
feasible. Next I went to the hardware store and bought a number punch
kit for five dollars and now I have permanent numbered tags. All numbers
coincide with a book with descriptions.
This brings up a question I hope someone is willing to attempt to answer
for me. Is there a universal formal or informal numbering system for
plants such as the c numbers for lithops? Is anybody in the process of
developing such a thing? I know this is slowly happening in the fauna
world with the "plecostemus" complex of catfish and more. Any comments
would be much appreciated.
Have a good one,
Tom (Sans. aubrytiana)
