Re: Translation

Dear Alan,

Your translating the original description of Sans.scabrifolia would be
greatly appreciated.

The fiollowing appears in GRIGSBY'S 1999 ON-LINE CATALOG
http://www.cactus-mall.com/grigsby/succulents.html

Sans. KIRKII var. KIRKII Superclone GC81071 This most amazing of all
Sansevierias comes from Kenya-Uganda. Mature plants have a very thick leaf
to three inches wide and as much as two inches thick! The leaves can grow
to over three feet long. LIMITED. Beautiful 14-18".$16.00 = ?Sans.
forskaoliana (Schultes, f.) Hepper & Wood (Kew Bulletin 38 (1): 83 (1983))
(definitely not Sans.kirkii, leaves much thicker and with different
markings)

Sans. KIRKII PULCHRA "COPPER FORM" The most beautiful of all the species.
The dark green leaves are wavy edged and spotted with copper, light tan and
green. Nice plants.$6.50 cv. = Sans.kirkii var. pulchra 'Coppertone'

Who is the originator of the cultivar name 'Coppertone' and what is its
origin? Did it originate from the wild, was it a chance mutation or was it
a selected seedling?

I had a list of comments and corrections on their entire list of offerings
but the posting is too long for the forum. I could post it in two parts if
anyone is interested in seeing it.

Dear Steve & all,

I can translate the description for you unless someone has already
volunteered. Just give me a day or so.

Does anyone have any information on the origins of S. kirkii 'Coppertone'
and S.kirkii 'Superclone'. I understand they are both naturally ocurring,
but cannot trace the actual collection data.

Best regards,
Alan Butler (shivering in a cold UK!)
