Re: sp. Lavranos 24534

Hi Steve and all,

I've never had any sansevierias in the paniculate-flowered group bloom for
me. Maybe none of them is old enough yet, or maybe they're just not happy
enough.

Almost all of my plants spend the summer outdoors and the winter inside, so
they don't really get to experience a natural growing cycle. I try to keep
ost of them fairlly dormant during the winter so as to discourage etiolation,
but of course some of them insist on growing anyway (must be that southern
hemishpere programming). I always get the most blooms during the winter.
Blooming now are cylindrica, dooneri, Bally 12681, roxburghiana, dawei, and
patens. I don't do anyhing special to encourage flowering. Apparently they
just do it when they feel like it. But Bally 12681, dooneri, and the
spoon-leafs from Mozambique bloom consistently every year.

I've also got a big, 15 year old plant of masoniana in a 22" pot which has
never bloomed. Apparently it doesn't subscribe to that old adage: "Say it
with flowers"!

Bye.
Kirk
