I am sure Steve that you meant: "from the Latin "Baculum" and not "Balulum"
Also the idea of calling it Sansevieria "bacularis" is to indicate this is
species and the epithet bacularis is not, as of now, valid. Namely it is
waiting to be validated. As an example Sansevieria "masoniana" will be
validated this week, when the CSSA journal comes out (hopefully!!!) and THEN
it call be called S. masoniana without the double quotes.
A different story is a cultivar, whose epithet may not be Latin and should
have single quotes and capital letter.
So S. "Bacularis" in double quotes is quite inappropriate.
