Hi,
Hermine you are entirely right about Lavranos, who is a good friend of mine,
about his dislike of sansevierias. He told me that he became interested only
after I asked him. This should be taken as a polite gesture of him, because I
know that he is not crazy about them. However.... he has repeatedly said that
his "knowledge of sansevierias is literally abysmal", to me and in front of
other people also, in other words, he does not pretend he knows much about
them, as other people who also dislike them, do.
Then again he just sent me a sansevieria from Somalia that I had lost in the
move and it happens to be the same one that Thulin sent me! So, if he kept
that sansevieria in Portugal, where he lives, he must not dislike them all
that much!
Again, Lavranos knowledge of succulent plants is more than 50 (or should I
better say 500) times that our whole discussion group. He has collected more
than 20,000 plants in Africa, Arabia and Madagascar and published an endless
array of new species.
So we'll forgive him.....
as long as he keeps sending sansevierias, of course...
Cheers,
Juan
