Hi Tom,
Thanks for the question.
No, I am not writing a monograph on sansevierias and I do not think that I
will do that, if ever, within the next five to ten years.
I am writing a book on the species. It will be a basic book, with around 100
to 120 species. The basic thought is write an inexpensive book (for a plant
book) not more than 120 pages, so it will have a very limited number of color
pictures, say 10.
Unfortunately stories like the ones told in this group, do not have a place
in a book. I cannot put that, Grigsby said this and Manny said that and
Lavranos answered so and so. So hang in with our group and get involved and
excuse my frequent absence from this forum.
Your question is very interesting and my answer is:
Yes, Sansevieria trifasciata is prone to sporting and variegation.
It is cultivated more than one hundred times all of the others combined, it
is still, proportion-wise very prone to sporting and variegation. The work
I've done on variegation also confirms it.
Cheers,
Juan
