Dear John,
You need to give us a report on what plants you found there. Any luck
finding the Ceropegia?
The Sansevieria aubrytiana impostor mystery still has not been solved. As
you said, the leaves are (pseudo-) petiolate, maculate and bicolor
margined. According to Grigsby's 1984 Wish Book, Sans. aubrytiana (GC78138)
was field collected by Mason in Ghana. I still think your mystery plant may
be a form of Sans. liberica (syn. Sans. chinensis). Any other suggestions?
Sansevieria javanica hort. not Blume (1837) is simply a name misapplied to
a clone of Sans. subspicata Baker. The genuine Sans. javanica Blume is a
synonym for a species of Dracaena according to N.E. Brown. There are no
authentic species of Sansevieria native to Java. How did the name get
misapplied in the first place?
I wonder if the rest of the members of the forum are still sleeping off
their Thanksgiving dinner. They've been awfully quiet.
Cereusly, Steve
