Re: Sans.grandis rosea

Dear Tom,

Should I presume you got them both from Glasshouse Works?

This is what the say about them in their online catalog.
http://www.glasshouseworks.com/succ-s.html

•68113 SANSEVIERIA GRANDIS AGA HP TGH $ 5.00 Creeping rhizomes send heads
of 2 to 5 wide leathery lvs, with narrowed petioles, of richly-patterned
emerald-tones; spikes of white tubular fls. "Somali Good Luck Plant" does
best in warm low-light conditions.

•68115 SANSEVIERIA GRANDIS ROSEA [HORT] AGA HP TGH $ 4.00 Japanese clone at
Forest Nursery via RC. Small black-green lvs in twisted heads. Most likely
a very dwarf selection of S. subspicata with very faint banding on fluted
lvs for is similar to `subspicata dwarf' of collections.

The identites of both are questionable. Sansevieria grandis is considered a
synonym of Sans.hyacinthoides from southern Africa and has absolutely
nothing to do with Somalia. The description does not appear to fit that
species. Their Sans.grandis rosea reads more like a selection of
Sans.subspicata.

Does anybody else have these and wish to comment or pictures to post?

Hey all:
Can anybody tell me if grandis rosea is its own sport or just a juvenile
form of grandis?

Thanks, and have a good one,
Tom
