[Fwd: Re: Sansevierias]

Hello All,
I am affraid that I'm a little confused as to what's going on on this
list, but I am sure that it will soon be sorted out and will be very
productive. I am resending my message of a few days ago which I sent
direct to Diana Pederson. Please will someone say if its OK to send
messages to <sansevierias@coolist.com> or what procedure to use pro tem.
Regards, George de Verteuil in Trinidad.

Diana and others,

This is my first contribution since joining this group some two weeks
ago. Hope that the computer technical problems get sorted out OK and
soon. Also, I don't know what's involved, but do hope that soon it will
be possible to broadcast in one daily bulletin all the messages
contributed in the style of the Cacti_etc list.

I live in Trinidad and Tobago in the southern Caribbean where the
average daytime temp is about 30-34 deg C and nighttime 20-25 deg C.
There is very little variation during the year. The main feature of our
climate is the difference between Wet Season (mid May to mid Dec) and
Dry Season (Jan to May). Naturally, Sans grow well outside all year
round.

There's lots more I would like to say, but suggest that this be left to
a later time when the communications are sorted out.

Am delighted to see that Juan Chahinian is with us. I just acquired
Juan's book on the S.t. varieties and read it cover to cover. Very
facinating and its great reading. Today I received my copy of N.E.
Brown's 1915 monograph. Hope that you have all been following the
thread on Cacti_etc on Chimeras re variegated S. t. I recall reading a
fine article by Juan in a CSSA Journal a couple years ago which seemed
to explain the development and propagation of the S. t. variteies very
well.

This could be a great discussion group and hope it goes from strength to
strength.

All the best from tropical Trinidad.

George de Verteuil
