[HAW] Sri Lanka

hi everyone,
So you thought you could get rid of me by moving while I was away
eh, no such luck :-)))
While on holiday in Sri Lanka I managed to find a couple of
Sansevieria.
S. trifasciata seems to grow everywhere on the Island except the
highlands which are probably too cold and wet for Sansevieria. I did
manage to bring back a root and a leaf this came from Sigiriya. This
was from a clump 12' long and 3' wide leave sup to 3' long.
S. zeylanica almost gave up finding this in the wild only one plant
found so the plant was left and only a broken leaf taken I hope it
will take ok as this is the closest thing that I have come across to
the description in Brown. close to Anaradhapura not far from the
Mabiandi Hotel. leaves to 3' long some strap like, others juvenile
round ones.
While at the Paradeniya Bot. Gdns. Kandy I came across What they
call zeylanica the leaves were round some flattish but glossy and
ridged down the back of the leaves. The gardener let me have a side
shoot of this. It could be just juvenile leaves but I don't think so
it will be interesting to see how it develops.
I will keep you posted on the plants and cuttings.
