Hello everyone:
I am trying hard to take it easy and let my incision
heal--getting a cut (6 stitches) over the knee to heal is a
challenge because it is bent constantly. The doctor said I could
resume regular activities--just keep the incision covered.
Crasulady and myself have been doing a lot of private emailing.
I have a big dream--to create an on-line Sansevieria Club that
could reach around the world. I've asked her to talk to people
at Huntington Botanical Gardens to see if they would (or have the
technology) to serve as our sponsors. If we did everything
on-line, we wouldn't have to charge any dues.
Some of the things I am thinking of are:
1. Collect photographs of Sansevieria species. I could scan
these into the computer, label with name, and photographer.
2. Create a database of all the Sansevierias we know to be in
cultivation by at least 1 of our members.
3. Have various members write short articles about various
species.
Do the rest of you have any ideas?
I'd like each of us to share our background. Then I could put
together a page with our names and backgrounds. If someone is a
botanist, then we would know who to address specific questions
to.
Is there anyone else on this discussion group who knows how to
create web pages? If so, we could work together to really
publicize this plant species.
If there is a botanist here, I would like to have some specific
information on where Sansevierias fit. Example:
Plant Family
Plant Genus or genera
Species
Cultivars
Since I am a garden writer on-line, I can list our site as one of
my 25 recommended websites. This will help to publicize it.
Besides, Sansevierias are great plants for disabled gardeners
because they are so tolerant of neglect and can handle indoor
conditions during our cold northern winters.
Please, let's all get involved here. Does someone have some good
pictures of various species you could send me. I can scan them
in.
