Re: [sg] questions about sources of money for school garden

We had the most wonderful event here in little old Gainesville Florida. The
Neighborhood Nutrition Network organized it. A woman named Joy from
Berkeley California came and spoke to us, with some people from the USDA and
Florida A&M who are working together to support small farms. Joy had
instituted a lunch program that incorporated fresh fruit and vegetables from
local organic farms into the schools in her area. It was so inspiring! We
are hoping that vision will take hold here. We have bad food for our
Florida kids, lots of junk food, processed food, corporate products, not
much fresh stuff. At the same time we have lots of rural areas where the
farms are on the edge, because they can't find an appropriate market for
their produce. Put the two together, and both benefit!
