If you are gardening with children(age 3-7) and want to share a beautiful story about the issues of social justice/injustice, cooperation, friendship and gardening; check out "Play Lady" by Eric Hoffman (and illustrated by Suzanne Tornquist.)
Jane Kurosawa lets the neighborhood children play in her yard, so the children call her "Play Lady." They make mud, build castles, and decorate her garden with treasures and signs. When Play Lady's space is vandalized, the children organize a neighborhood workday to help clean up and to show their appreciation for her.
The book is bilingual in English and Spanish. It costs $10.95 plus shipping.
