eliminates EE from EPA
In the just released 2003 White house budget, environmental education has
been labeled "ineffective." The budget calls for a reorganization of EPA,
with EE funds being reallocated to the National Science Foundation. The
full report can be found at: <<<www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2003/>>>.
Page 3 contains the following:
Program: Environmental Education
Assessment: Ineffective
Explanation: This program has supported environmental advocacy rather than
environmental education. The budget transfers funding to the National
Science Foundation's (NSF) math and science programs so that a consolidated
program can better serve educators and students.

Obviously this is a significant blow to environmental education. If you're
interested in EE, you might want to follow how this issue develops.
Have a good day.
