Dear School Garden Members --
National Gardening Association's new KidsGardening Web site, to launch in February, will feature a series of moderated discussion forums (messageboard) for educators. We still need a few more forum managers to inspire, prompt, and monitor thematic discussions. There are surely some eager and capable souls on this listserv.
The following categories are being considered for initial message board discussions:
* Getting Started with School Gardening
* Gardening for Wildlife/Schoolyard Habitats
* Historical/Multicultural Gardening
* Digging into Worms, Compost, Soils
* School/Community Greenhouses
* Gardening Indoors
* Integrating Gardening into the Curriculum (K-5 and 6-12)
* Finding Support and Funds
* Parents' Exchange
The position of forum manager, at this stage, is an unpaid, volunteer position, although those who commit can depend of some treats and resources! We estimate the time commitment to be 2 to 3 hours per week.
INTERESTED?
To help us get to know you, please e-mail us (evep@garden.org) and let us know which category(ies) you would like to manage. Feel free to suggest an additional category that you might like to manage. Then, write a brief description of your school (or home) gardening and Internet experiencees. Enthusiasm for using gardens to enrich learning, good communications skills, and an interest in online communities are important qualities for forum managers. PLEASE E-MAIL YOUR RESPONSE TO evep@garden.org BY JANUARY 15th.
After reviewing your input and making "matches," we'll contact you with more details on the process.
Looking forward to collaborating to help young minds grow...
