Dear Heirloom Seed Enthusiast,
To access the farmer/gardener interviews, type in "user1" when prompted
"user" and "pswd1" at the space for password, both appear in the same box
when you attempt to "click" on a farmer/gardener name.
Also, We want to extend an invitation for YOU to join the SSL Network!
The funding which got this project all started, a grant from the USDA's
Southern Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program,
ended in August. To keep SSL going strong, we are collecting the $10.00
(tax deductible) annual membership fee to help cover our operating
expenses.
Your 1999-2000 membership entitles you to:
A copy of the hot-off-the-presses 1st Edition SSL Resource Directory.
A subscription to SEEDLINK, the SSL periodic newsletter, featuring event
announcements, member profiles, research updates, and a "Helping each
other" FREE.
Free or discounted participation in all SSL-sponsored events, such as the
Annual Seed Swap (held in May).
A copy of the SSL Teaching Packet & Tool Kit, including the
youth-oriented manual, Yesterday's Ways, Tomorrow's Treasures: Heirloom
Plants and Memory Banking-perfect for middle-high school teachers, scout
leaders, 4-H co-ordinators, or others involved with youth groups
(available upon request).
Participation in PASS: Pass Along Southern Seed; a more extensive yearly
"classified ads" booklet, available to participate in prior to the growing
season (see the PASS link at the Southern Memories website to learn
more).
We are excited at the prospect of sharing the fruits of these past three
years of "memory banking" information about Southern heirloom crop
varieties and their products, and we hope to link you to our network of
seed savers, gardeners, farmers, grassroots groups, scientists, and a
myriad of other institutions interested in southern rural heritage or
sustainable agriculture in our region. Thank you for your interest! To
join now, simply send a $10.00 check or money order (made out to Southern
Seed Legacy) to SSL, c/o Agrarian Connections, 10 Legacy Road, Crawford,
GA 30630.
Respectfully, Robert E. Rhoades & Virginia D. Nazarea

Wow! We're right in Oglethorpe Co, and our research base/archive is at
UGA. Give me your mailing address and we'll send you a copy of our
teaching kit--perhaps this would work well with your program (especially
middle--high school).
