   National 4-H Council Announces 2000 Community Tree
         Planting Grants Program

   Deadline: July 7, 2000

   The Community Tree Planting Grant Program, an initiative
   of the National 4-H Council (http://www.fourhcouncil.edu/),
   will provide community action grants in the amounts of
   $200 to $1,000 to stimulate tree planting and/or reforest-
   ation projects nationwide. Grants will be awarded to
   communities in support of ongoing tree planting and/or
   reforestation projects or to stimulate new and creative
   youth-led projects. The preferred role of adults is to
   provide guidance to young project leaders in the design,
   proposal writing, implementation, and evaluation phases
   of the project. Awarded funds must be matched by local
   resources. Applications available online.
