children /youth gardening conferences

Dear Kezia,

There are 2 children &/or youth conferences that I know of:

-The Annual National Youth Garden Symposium ( American Horticultural
Society) is designed for teachers, educators and program staff affiliated
with park districts, public gardens, youth groups, public and private
schools and community organizations to promote and support the inclusion of
gardens in children's lives. Symposium participants learn how to begin a
children's garden and recognize ways that children's gardens can support
educational curricula.
For more info about the conference, go to :

And:

-Rooted in Community III:
Harvesting The Power of Youth
July 20-22, 2001
Detroit, Michigan
This year's Rooted in Community III: Harvesting the Power of Youth will be a
companion to the two previous highly successful youth conferences
co-sponsored by the ACGA. The conference will develop youth leaders
concerned about the importance of easily accessible and healthy foods.
Participants will be challenged to expand their understanding of ecological
sustainability and to build an active and organized national network around
food systems and food security. Youth and adults will leave the conference
ready to take leadership in their own communities.

I hope this is the info you were looking for.
