There are some great fundraising ideas and grant suggestions floating
around the listserv. Thanks to everyone for your feedback and
comments. National Wildlife Federation maintains a fundraising list within
the Schoolyard Habitats web site, we list national grant opportunities as
well as regional grant opportunities that come to our attention. It is not
an exhaustive list, by any means, but it is a start. Please continue to
share new grant sources with the list and we will add it to our growing
list of funding sources. In the meantime, visit our site at
www.nwf.org/habitats/schoolyard/basics/fundraising.cfm for our most updated
list.

We have a botanical garden at our high school that is 12 years old
now. We have received a governor's award for environmental
excellence, an award from the Native Plant Society of Texas, etc, and
are a NWF Schoolyard Habitat. You'd think things would be going
great guns for us, but the reality is we collect and sell aluminum
cans and earn, maybe, $200 a school year. Our program is a success
only through sheer persistence. We are desperate for sources that
will provide something besides "seed" money - someone who helps
sustain programs that are proven. Know of any?
